The Virginia Writers Club strives to support local writers with peer critiques of their work, networking opportunities and speakers to further their knowledge af the art and craft of writing. At present, the VWC has ten active local Chapters: The Appalachian Authors Guild, Blue Ridge, Chesapeake Bay Writers, Hampton Roads, Hanover Writers, Northern Virginia, Richmond, Riverside, Traveler, and Valley. The Appalachian Authors Guild serves the City of Norton and Counties of Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Tazewell, Washington & Wise and even north-east Tennessee. The Blue Ridge Chapter serves the cities of Charlottesville, Staunton and Waynesboro,and counties of Albemarle, Augusta, Fluvana, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, Orange and Rappahannock. Meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of the month at various locations in the greater Charlottesville area. The Chesapeake Bay Writers Chapter serves the City of Williamsburg and the counties of Charles City, Essex, Gloucester, James City, King & Queen, King William, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, New Kent, Northumberland, Richmond and Westmoreland. The Chesapeake Bay Writers host five luncheon or dinner meetings each year. In addition, the Chapter offers recurrent workshops and outreach events which afford members opportunities to exchange ideas and establish contact with others having similar interests. Individual members also host various critique and novel reading groups which meet regularly at different times and locations to assist members in achieving their writing goals. The Hampton Roads Chapter serves the cities of Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Virginia Beach. Meetings are held the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center in Virginia Beach. For further information, please e-mail Ed DeLong. The Hanover Writers Chapter meets the third Saturday of each month from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon, at the Mechanicsville Library, 7179 Stonewall Parkway, Mechanicsville. The Northern Virginia Chapter serves writers in the counties of Fairfax and Arlington, the cities of Alexandria and Falls Church, and the surrounding areas.
