The Richmond Chapter of
The Virginia Writers Club

Past President Betty Marcum once wrote, concerning the VWC:
“Our mission is to support and stimulate the craft and business of writing, as well as promote the literary arts in the broader Virginia community.”

The Richmond chapter endorses this standard. Re-established about three years ago, our group consists of friendly people with at least one common interest–writing. We are writer-wannabes, established authors, and word-slingers who have finished a manuscript and stand frozen in purgatory beside the mailbox, awaiting news from any agent who recognizes and appreciates incredible talent.

We’ve formed three-person critique groups (selected from a hat). When, where, and how often a group meets is up to the discretion of that group. Some of our groups don’t meet, but communicate via e-mail. One group meets at the library, and another likes to have morning coffee at McDonalds. We have agreed to draw new names every quarter. That way, everyone will meet new friends, and have exposure to a wide variety of styles and ideas.

In addition to the smaller critique groups, we all get together from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the Short Pump Barnes & Noble the third Wednesday of the month.

The Richmond chapter extends the hand of friendship to anyone desiring more information. Please e-mail Susan Schwartz.
