Barbara ShineBarbara Shine: Barbara is a writer of personal essays and poems as well as a monthly newspaper column on adult health topics. Her essays have been published in the Washington Post "Style" and "Health" sections, Washingtonian and Maryland magazines, and a number of online literary journals. She also has earned awards from Chesapeake Bay Writers and the Christopher Newport University Annual Writing Competition. Recently Shine co-authored and edited a literary collection, The Pen Is Mightier Than the Broom: Memoirs, Stories, and Poems, and she is now at work on a book-length memoir. She also leads workshops for new and experienced writers. Shine is interested in speaking to groups of any size on the subjects of writing from life, nonfiction editing, and her experience with self-publishing.
