Bio
Mark Fryburg used to report broadcast news, practice public relations and teach people how to fly airplanes. A late bloomer (born 1951), Mark found new passion in writing and live storytelling after returning to SW Virginia in late 2022. In 2024, he took First Place in Poetry Society of Virginia’s contest “Sense of Place” category, and received Honorable Mention in Passager Journal’s national contest. See other accomplishments in "Poems, Novels, Plays..." section. Mark’s storytelling and journalism show in his products. They’re often chronological, concrete and concise. (His aspiration: be a favorite of readers with short attention spans.) This Stanford grad spent five decades in his native Oregon. But, the Blue Ridge always beckoned. Mark and bride Laura, and two pups, now live in Virginia's Roanoke Valley, where they met four decades ago.
