About Our Organization

Founded in 1991, the CBW began as a chapter of the Virginia Writers Club(VWC) and remained so until 1998 when it surrendered its charter in order to pursue growth as an independent organization. In 2006, the CBW membership elected to re-affiliate with the VWC. By doing so, its 90 some odd members gained access to a wider range of writing-related opportunities and resources than would be possible for the CBW to provide as a stand-alone organization.

The CBW hosts luncheons, author talks and Open Mics each year. These events are open to the public and offer a variety of informative programs about writing, publishing and marketing. At the end of the year the CBW hosts a Luncheon which wraps up the years activities including honoring the winners of the Golden Nib at the Chapter and State level.

In addition, the CBW sponsors critique groups both in person and on Zoom to assist members in achieving their writing goals.

The CBW also has a monthly radio talk show on XTRA 99.1FM in which its members are interviewed by host Jay Hutchins in order to promote newly published books. VWC members statewide  are also eligible to book the show if not reserved by a member of CBW.
