Riverside Writers is a writer's group for the city of Fredericksburg, counties of Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, Caroline and Louisa, Orange and all surrounding counties.

Riverside Writers held its day-long fifth annual of Parade of Prose on Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Salem Church Library in Spotsylvania County. Some twenty-five writers took part in the activities, including open readings and a prose slam. Workshops were presented on "Queries, Synopses, and Blurbs" by Ellen Butler and "Successful Screenwriting" by Luigi Benedetto.
The November monthly meeting on the 14th was devoted to a presentation by outstanding novelist Andy Straka on "The Fine Art of Flying Blind:Elements of Fiction," followed by a critique session. December 12th was the date for our annual holiday celebration, featuring over a dozen member readings of seasonally-inspired original works, as well as a bounty of food and singing led by our talented Sheila Chambers.
The new year will bring a series of exciting events, beginning in January with Jeff Schwaner speaking on the "Fascination of Chinese Poetry."
The chapter continues to hold weekly critique sessions Monday nights at the Spotsylvania Mall Books-a-Million and monthly poetry salons at various venues announced on the website. Visit us also on Facebook.
